Windows Phone Market Share Could Take A Significant Slice Off From iOS In The Enterprise Industry In Next 5 Years

After a rather sluggish start in the mobile platform competition, Windows Phone is finally making its presence felt on both ends of the market - that is the mass and the enterprise market. Though Windows Phone market share still has a long way to become dangerously relevant in the duopoly between iOS and Android, a research firm reports that it could take a slice off from Apple's OS in the next five years.

In a report released by ABI Research, WP market share in the enterprise level would significantly increase in expense of Apple's iOS due to the latter's failure in delivering cutting edge enterprise features in its iOS 7 platform.

Meanwhile, as WP continues to expand its own market of apps, more people would be interested in adopting the initially-forsaken OS. In the report, the firm predicts that iOS would continue to cling on to its 18 percent share in the mass market while WP would rise to 8 percent.

However, as the report points out, that's only for the mass market. For the enterprise industry, ABI Research expects Windows Phone to get a huge chunk of Apple's enterprise consumers because of the iOS 7's lack of enterprise-related features and services.

The prediction is still more than four years away, and Apple may be preparing something under its sleeve to get the world's attention once more.
