HTC One 2 M8 Release Date: Rumored Upcoming HTC Flagship Smokes Galaxy Note 3, Other Flagships In AnTuTu Benchmark

For the past couple of years, HTC is known for announcing phones earlier than other manufacturers. And several rumors are pointing out that it may stick to its schedule with the HTC One 2 M8 release date. But if you think this Droid is just the usual HTC handset with a metallic finish, then you're terribly mistaken.

In a report by GSM Arena, the alleged HTC One successor underwent the AnTuTu benchmark, one of the more reliable and accurate benchmarks in the industry today. It scored 36,532.

To put things in perspective, the world's fastest phone to date, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 scored only 31,109, while Sony's Xperia Z1 followed closely with 30,850. LG completes the top-tier phablets with 30,243.

As you can see, even if you add up all the differences among the Note 3, Xperia Z1, and G2, the sum would still be way below the HTC device's difference from the second spot. To think that all three current flagships have 1080 screens and Snapdragon 800's, we can't help but wonder what the HTC One 2 M8's hardware would be like.

In case you haven't heard about the rumored HTC One M2 yet, it allegedly sports a 5-inch screen with 1080p resolution, 3GB of RAM, a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.3Ghz, Android KitKat, and Sense 6.
