Family Guy showed on their latest episode Sunday’s episode Brian Griffin dead. The most loveable character in the cartoon series died in the show after a car hit him wherein the doctors weren’t able to revive him after the family brought him to the veterinary clinic.

“You’ve given me a wonderful life. I love you all.” Those were the last words said by Brian Griffin after he was announced dead in the clinic.

An emotional Griffin family cried in the clinic bringing tears to their faces after Brian closed his eyes and when the flat line tone sounded.

Steve Callaghan, Executive Producer for Family Guy was interviewed by E! Online news about why they decided to show a dead Brian Griffin in the show.

“Well, this was an idea that got pitched in the writers room and it sort of caught fire, and we thought it could be a fun way to shake things up. As soon as this idea came up, we started talking about what the next couple episodes could be and we got very excited about the way this change will affect the family dynamics and the characters,” Callaghan said.

The writers agreed that killing of Brian Griffin rather that the kids would be less traumatic if the dog would be dead.

“It seemed more in the realm of reality that a dog would get hit by a car, than if one of the kids died. As much as we love Brian, and as much as everyone loves their pets, we felt it would be more traumatic to lose one of the kids, rather than the family pet.”

When he was asked if they were worried if their decision of Brian’s death would backfire on them, Family Guy producer said that they are confident that the viewers and fans would understand with their decision.

“I'm not, only because our fans are smart enough and have been loyal to our show for long enough, to know that they can trust us. We always make choices that always work to the greatest benefit of the series. “
