Simon Cowell has every reason to smile these days with girlfriend Lauren Silverman's pregnancy, the success of X Factor franchise and the good showing of One Direction, the group he discovered and is currently managing, in the charts. 

Maybe we will be seeing a lot of happy Simon Cowell in the news? 

Simon told Weekend magazine in an exclusive that he has become a changed man because of the impending arrival of his son. 

"It was like coming out of a fog. That's the only way I can describe it. I thought, stop feeling sorry for yourself, you've got nothing to feel bad about," he said.

Simon Cowell's persona has always been dour and even downright catty, but his penchant for speaking his mind and dishing out the most creative of insults is what endeared him to the US fans. His stint with American Idol and US X Factor shows were certified hits. 

In fact, when he left American Idol the show was never the same again. 

Part of the reason why Lauren Silverman's pregnancy made him uncomfortable was when he realized that he's in a relationship with the wife of his good friend,  Andrew Silverman. The real estate developer and Lauren's divorce became final recently. 

"I was very low and I don't know why. It's not that it was a bad year, it was a good one in terms of my work," Simon Cowell stated in the interview, adding that he could not attribute the blues to his personal life. 

"For some reason I wasn't getting a buzz out of anything, which was unusual. I started to get a bit lethargic," he said. "Then the baby happened."

Lauren Silverman is expected to be in labour in February next year, and Simon Cowell who doesn't like "blood and guts" promised to be there by her side. One thing is clear, however: he won't be cutting the baby's umbilical cord.
