Doctor Who Season 8 Spoilers: No Hiatus During Series 8 Run, Matt Smith Is The Final Doctor!

As "Doctor Who" draws closer to the Christmas Special and season 8, spoilers have surfaced regarding the fate of Matt Smith's incarnation of the Doctor.

As many Whovians have noticed, given the John Hurt reincarnation, Matt Smith should be the final regeneration for the Doctor. The mythology is that the Doctor can only regenerate 12 times.

"We'll find out that Matt Smith is actually the 13th Doctor. Although everyone knows that the Doctor can only regenerate 12 times," said "Doctor Who" executive producer Steven Moffat to Radio Times.

"The 12 regenerations limit is a central part of Doctor Who mythology - science fiction is all about rules, you can't just casually break them. So if the Doctor can never change again, what's Peter Capaldi doing in the Christmas Special?"

However, earlier, Moffat had been quoted with spoilers that the 50th Anniversary Special would not affect the numbering of the Doctor, meaning Peter Capaldi would have been the 12th Doctor in season 8.

So has Steven Moffat changed his mind, or is he throwing fans off the scent once again?

In addition, Doctor Who TV has provided additional spoilers regarding season 8.

Reportedly, season 8 will not be split into two parts in terms of broadcast (which has been the case in the past few years), and will run continuously.

Moffat has also stated that there will be at least 13 episodes of season 8, although spoilers have not confirmed whether this includes the Christmas Special.

If Matt Smith is indeed the final incarnation of the Doctor, how will Peter Capaldi enter the picture?
