Google Glass Price And Release Date: Wearable Gadget On Sale On eBay & Craigslist, AR Lens Sold For $2,400-$4,000 A Piece

Google Glass price and release date: The AR lens that has sparked issues on privacy while increasing curiosity on how wearable gadgets could be used in technology, sports and business is now available to the public. After Google practically allowed enterprising Glass Explorer members to sell their devices, the unit is for the taking to those who’ll pay the price.

According to a report by the LA Times, the Mountain View tech giant earlier said that they will be disabling devices if Glass Explorer members try to resell it; making it useless. The policy, however, changed earlier this month. Google announced that it would no longer disable devices. Thanks to this, numerous Glass lens are now available for purchase on eBay and Craigslist, costing up to $4,000 a piece.

The LA Times reported that a quick search for “Google Glass” on eBay brings up plenty of results. The price for the AR lens range from as low as $2,500 to up to $4,000. The news publication noted that one piece was being sold for as much as $6,000. The prices for Glass invitation codes, on the other hand, range from as low as $7 to as much as $499.

A search for Google Glass on the Los Angeles Craigslist pulls up similar price offerings for the high-profile gadget. Invitation codes go from $100 to $500 while the Glass itself is being sold for around $3,000.

In one Google Glass listing by eBay user eljugador_5, the Buy It Now price is $1,800, a mere $300 above the $1,500 entrance fee to the Glass Explorer Program. Aside from the Glass, it includes a Mono Ear Bud, Wall Unit Charger, Protective Bag, Micro USB cable, Active Shaded Shield Lenses and the original box.

Although there is still no official consumer release date for the lens, speculations and rumors suggest that a 2014 release date is imminent and by then, the price of the device could hover around $500.

In a research by Forrester, it said that up to 1 in 5 Americans would want to get hold of a Google Glass and predicts that this gadget could be the next iPhone.
