Nokia Android Phone 'Normandy' Allegedly Still In The Works, May Feature Heavily-Skinned Android Ecosystem

A few months back, a rumored Nokia Android phone dubbed 'Normandy' was leaked by several media outlets, claiming that the device was under development but was halted due to Microsoft. Now, just as we have already lost all hope, a new development arises.

According to recent leaked information from the The Verge, the Nokia Droid is reportedly still under way. In fact, the website's sources even claimed that the development is 'full steam ahead'.

In the leaked photo posted by notorious leakster EVleaks last month, the Nokia Normandy looks like a bigger Asha phone based on its design. That could also hint that the rumored handset is not the flagship caliber most people expected it to be. Instead, it would be a premium midranger that may follow the footsteps of the Lumia 1520, the most-sold WP handset in recent memory.

Some reports also claim that the Nokia Normandy will run on a heavily skinned Android ecosystem, similar to what Amazon did with its custom Android version, Fire OS.

But with the Microsoft acquisition looming in the horizon, time is running short for the Normandy, which could be the Finnish manufacturer's only Android device.

We'll keep you posted once we get hold of more details.
