Prince Harry, Cressida Bonas Going Strong While Split Apart: Girlfriend ‘Keeps Him Going’ During Grueling South Pole Trek

Prince Harry and his girlfriend Cressida Bonas may be split apart by thousands of miles while Prince Harry is trekking to the South Pole this month, but new reports say that thoughts of his girlfriend Cressida Bonas are helping the royal get through the tough expedition.

The 29-year-old royal is currently on a trek to the South Pole with wounded soldiers to support the charity Walking with the Wounded, FemaleFirst.com reports. The grueling trip through below-freezing temperatures is tough on the Prince, but thoughts of reuniting with his girlfriend in less than a week are helping him get through the tough times.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "The thought of being with Cressida is helping keep him going."

The charity trek was originally a competition, as three teams raced to the South Pole. But CNN reports that Ed Parker, the expedition director of the Virgin Money South Pole Allied Challenge, revealed Saturday that he'd made the decision to call off the competition (but not the trek) among the three teams - Soldier On (Australia and Canada), Soldiers to Summit (United States of America) and Walking With the Wounded (United Kingdom) - to reach the South Pole after five days.

The reason was due to safety concerns, as "it was becoming evident that there was a higher degree of stress imposed on the team members, due to unprecedented terrain on the plateau," Parker said.

As we previously reported, Prince Harry should return from his trip just in time for Christmas, hopefully to enjoy the holidays with his girlfriend Cressida Bonas, according to The Daily Beast.

Recently, the media has speculated that Prince Harry and Cressida are getting engaged soon, with people taking bets that another royal wedding will occur next year. Perhaps we'll see a Christmas proposal happen once Prince Harry has finished up his charity trek?

The Daily Mail reports that after a month apart with limited communication, Harry and Cressy are planning to spend some "us" time upon his return.

They are reportedly hoping to go on a romantic getaway to make up for the weeks they have been split apart by the charity trek.

"They're looking at either Africa or skiing in Switzerland," a source told the Daily Mail.
