Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Microsoft Could Adopt Android, Allow Nokia To Launch Its First Droid

If you are holding of your shopping until early next year, then you probably need to know one of the most exciting upcoming Android phones in 2014. We're talking about the rumored Nokia Droid, Normandy.

Yesterday, sources told The Verge that the developing is still in 'full steam', and that a probably release may be expected. However, experts and bloggers immediately dismissed the idea, claiming Microsoft would not allow such a compromise.

But in a new report from AllThingsD, its sources say that the Redmond company might actually let the Nokia Normandy see the daylight. In the report, while there is certainly no assurance yet, "within Nokia there is a sense that Redmond may be willing to pursue the project".

If this is the case, would Microsoft start yielding to Android's supremacy? Not quite.

According to the same report, the Android version within the Normandy would most likely be a forked one, similar to that of Amazon's Kindle tablets. This means while the phone can run third-party Android apps and games, it would not have pre-installed Google services and apps.

But why would Microsoft do this? The report from Android Authority says that it could be the company's step towards dominating the entry-level market, wherein Nokia's Asha lineup failed.

If this report pans out to be true, is this a good move on the part of Microsoft?
