Nexus 5 Specs: New Nexus Droid Gets New Hardware Design, Features Larger Speaker And Mic Holes

If you look into the Nexus 5 specs, you would surely conclude that it is one of the most powerful handsets in the market today. However, it seems Google and LG have other things in mind as they quietly tweaked the phone's hardware for improved audio functions.

In a report by GSM Arena, a member of the XDA-Developers forum first noticed the change when he asked for a replacement for his defective Nexus 5. When he acquired the replacement, he noticed that the Droid has bigger speaker and microphone holes at the bottom of the screen.

In addition, there are also firmer buttons which are more flush with the device, bringing in more comfort and responsiveness. Unfortunately, the report says the improvements did not particularly solved other early issues found in earlier versions of the device such as yellowish LCDs, green dots, and so on.

In spite the hardware redesign, users may not be allowed to ask for replacement of their Nexus 5 devices unless proven defects are found.

Google has not made any announcements regarding the hardware design, though we may still want to commend them for bringing such upgrades to a device that is less than three months old.
