Nexus 5 Review: Sleek Design Meets Powerful Internals, Set To Be World's Top Droid

In case you are searching for a compact Nexus 5 review, then you have definitely come to the right place. Announced less than two months ago, the LG-made phone running on stock Android has immediately become one of the fastest selling handsets in this quarter.

Design

The Nexus 5 is made up of soft-touch plastic with a matte finish to keep those fingerprints away. If you look at the phone for a while, you will see the resemblance it has with LG's flagship, the G2 - which is not a bad thing altogether. Besides, the two phones have different batteries, screens, and build. Overall, the Google flagship sports a decent but not an attention-grabbing design which works for most people.

Performance

Under the 5" display lies the Nexus 5's true power. Running on a Snapdragon 800 chipset with a 2.3GHz Kait 400 quad-core CPU and 2GB of RAM, you can let the phone run almost anything - from playing HD videos, extensive multi-tasking, etc. Partner that speed with the latest version of Android and you'll get a match made in heaven. Android KitKat has been promoted to be able to run on low-spec'd devices, making the Nexus 5 faster than most, if not all current flagships.

Battery

Much like other current flagships, the Nexus 5 has some problems when it comes to battery management. The 5" display and the powerful processor are just too much for the measly 2,400mAh battery sealed at the back of the device. And because it is non-removable, you would not have any option but to live by your phone's battery life.

Verdict

The Nexus 5 from Google and LG is easily one of the best handsets ever made and released this year. And if you are looking for flagship-level performance with a midranger pricetag, the new Nexus smartphone will certainly deliver your needs. You just have to get used to charging your phone every day after moderate to heavy usage throughout the day.
