Victoria’s Secret 2013 Angel Alessandra Ambrosio Admits Having Traumatic Surgery At 11; ‘Cosmetic Surgery Freaks Me Now,’ Says Supermodel

The recently concluded Victoria's Secret 2013 fashion show showcased stunning supermodels clad in equally fabulous outfits. One of the angels, Alessandra Ambrosio, recently admitted that her early desire to be model motivated her to undergo an ear surgery at 11 years old. However, such surgery turned out to be traumatic for the Victoria's Secret angel.

"I always knew I wanted to be a model so I decided to have my ears pinned back, because they stuck out a bit. I found this doctor in my hometown [of Erechim] in Brazil who had only done it once before, so I was a guinea pig. The first few nights, it felt like someone had cut off my ears. For a year, I had to go back for mini-surgeries. Doctors say they can fix them, but cosmetic surgery freaks me out now," recalls the 32-year-old Victoria's Secret angel.

Since she's afraid to again go under the knife, she vows to use natural methods in maintaining her weight.  She talked about her struggle to regain her body after giving birth to her first child five years ago:  "I knew that I had the show to do after having [Anja] - and actually I was expecting my body to go back quicker. People kept telling me that I would bounce back straight away, but a week after giving birth I still had that balloon belly. It was the first time in my life that I had to diet. Before I had my kids, if I gained one or two pounds (0.5 to 1 kilo) I would just eat salad and it would be OK. But when I got pregnant with Anja I really went for it with food. I gained 60 lbs (27 kilos), so I had a lot to lose."

Apart from having a strict diet, she also had physical trainings six times a week to get back into shape. Ambrosio adds that she has not eliminated the idea of posing for Playboy magazine in the future.

"I would have to discuss it with my family and make sure it was artistic. Cindy Crawford and Stephanie Seymour did it and they made me want to model. It's funny how casual you become about [your breasts] after children. I mean, you breastfeed in front of your parents. Still, after two kids, they're not the same. I'm afraid of having anything done, though: there's too much of that in LA."
