Miss Philippines Wins Miss International 2013; What Is Her Winning Answer?

The recently concluded Miss International 2013 hailed Miss Philippines Bea Rose Santiago as the winner. The 53rd Miss International pageant happened at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Apart from her beauty, viewers similarly commend how Santiago gracefully answered the question.

In the "Question and Answer" portion of the Miss International 2013 contest, the finalists were asked with just one question: "What I would do if I become Miss International?" The 5 finalists' answers were:

Miss Netherlands Nathalie den Dekker emphasized the significance of sharing and unity: "I'd be more than happy to give back. We should never stop caring. Eventually, we are one world, and one dream. Together, we are one."

On the other hand, Miss New Zealand Casey Radley focused on women empowerment: "If I was to be the next Miss International 2013, there are many things I'd like to achieve. I would like to work with the young women of today's society. There are many ideologies of what you should be or shouldn't be, rather than embracing who they really are."

"Good evening, everyone. I would like to thank the most important things that I get in this competition. I'm so happy that I'm here in this stage," Miss Hungary Brigitta Ötvos showed her appreciation for the opportunity to join the contest.

Miss Colombia Lorena Hermida had a simple answer: "I am very happy. Japan is a magnificent experience."

Finally, Miss Philippines Bea Rose Santiago promised to uplift the hope of her countrymen in the midst of trials: "The whole world saw how my country suffered. One by one, other countries helped. You have opened my heart and eyes on what we can do to help each other. I will work to sustain the spirit of sympathy and spirit of hope. As long as we work together, there is hope."

Santiago was pertaining to typhoon Haiyan which took thousands of lives in just few days. Her answer wowed the judges which eventually landed her the coveter Miss International 2013 title.
Miss Netherlands took home the 1st Runner Up award while Miss New Zealand went home with the 2nd Runner Up recognition.

It is the fifth time for the Philippines to win the Miss International crown. Prior to Santiago, Precious Lara Quigaman won the crown in 2005 preceded by Melanie Marquez (1979), Aurora Pijuan (1970), and Gemma Cruz-Araneta (1964).
