A new face will soon join the 'New Girl' Season 3 cast - Linda Cardellini. She will be playing the role of Abby Day, Jess' sister. As opposed to the quirky and naïve character of Jess, her sister has a wild and adventurous soul. Will Abby enliven 'New Girl' Season 3 or will she bring trouble to the gang's loft?

While it is confirmed that Cardellini will be joining 'New Girl' Season 3 in February, no announcements have been confirmed yet regarding her life's story. Last season, during the Thanksgiving episode, viewers were able to have a glimpse of Jess' parents.

Several speculations can be attributed to Abby's arrival. Will CeCe feel threatened with the arrival of a strong personality who might take up most of Jess' time? One of the boys can similarly fall in love with Abby.

Cardellini is not the only one who will add hilarity to the series. Adam Brody from 'The O.C.' will be joining the cast to play the role of Berkeley, Jess' handsome ex boyfriend turned stay-at-home father. Even music icon Prince will be performing in a Superbowl episode which will reportedly cause trouble for Nick and Jess.

Cardellini previously appeared on 'Freaks and Geeks', 'E.R.', and 'Mad Men'.

'New Girl' will resume on January 7 on FOX.
