The Originals Vs. The Vampire Diaries, we should have seen this coming, right?

The spinoff series of The Vampire Diaries has just began its season this year. But, it's making a good impression to viewers, as E! Online reports, The Originals has one of the "most passionate TV fanbases around right now" together with The Vampire Diaries.

Who would've thought that the spinoff series will do better than the original series?

But, the people has spoken.

According to thousands of people who voted in E! Online's Fall TV Obsession Tournament, The Originals "has surpassed the flagship series."

Seems like the guys at New Orleans is more favored than the guys in Mystic Falls. Well, who wouldn't love the Mikaelson's, right?

After E! Online's poll, the creator and executive producer of both The Originals and The Vampire Diaries, Julie Plec, talked to E! Online and expressed her reactions on the poll.

According to Plec, "It's a huge validation to the whole team at The Originals who are trying to do right by the mothership of TVD, and tell mini-movies each week."

She further states, "The show has more adult themes and is driven less by romance and more by power struggles, betrayals, and as Klaus would say 'some dodgy behavior.'"

Plec also revealed that she loves the fandoms of both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. She also expressed how happy she is that the fans embraced the spinoff series with the same support they give to the mothership of TVD (maybe even more).

However, Plec also admitted that she wasn't sure whether The Originals will have the same favorable response to viewers as with The Vampire Diaries.

"We had no idea if [The Originals] would catch on with the same fervor and intensity as our fandom treats TVD.  In the end, the fandom is all from the same family, so we appreciate their support as always. And yes, I actually did vote for both," she says.
