Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Wrestles To No. 1! ‘Pain & Gain’ Star Tops Forbes’ 2013 Top-Grossing Actors List

After a string of movies that became box office success, Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson wrestled the number 1 spot from "Iron Man" star Robert Downey Jr. in the Forbes 2013 top-grossing actors list.

The Rock starred in four films in 2013-all box office hits-including "G.I. Joe Retaliation," "Fast and the Furious 6." All his movies in 2013 collectively sold $1.3 billion in ticket sales worldwide.

All his films, meanwhile, were trumped by just one movie, "Iron Man 3," which grossed $1.2 billion in worldwide ticket sales.

Although Downey trails The Rock for the distinction of being the biggest earning box-office draw, the star of Iron Man is still the highest paid actor after earning $75 million, or $29 million more than The Rock.

Dwayne Johnson's co-stars in "Fast and Furious 6," the recently demised Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, also made it to the top six on the strength of the movie's $789 million showing at the worldwide box office, according to Forbes on Monday.

Diesel came in fourth by earning $98 million from the "Fast and Furious" franchise and the sequel to "Riddick." But he was edged out by Steve Carell after the animated "Despicable Me 2" made a killing at the box office with $919 million.

The magazine compiles the list by adding the amount of dollars the actors make at the global box office.

Oscar-winning actress, Sandra Bullock, also made it to the list at No. 5 after two successful movies "Gravity" and "The Heat," a buddy cop comedy which also starred Melissa McCarthy.

But it seems that The Rock is not resting on his laurels as he is set to start filming for seventh installment of the Fast & Furious. The movie should have started shooting weeks ago but was shelved after the fiery accident that killed Walker.

The Rock is also set to star in Hercules, helmed by X Men's Brett Ratner.
