KARA Single Japanese Album of 'Super Girl' to Mark 1,000,000 Sales

Girl group KARA is attempting to the group’s first million-seller with a single album. The group has already passed a million copies with their release in Japan last year. KARA is close to selling over 1,000,000 copies with their second Japanese album ‘Super Girl.’ This is possible as a special Tour Edition of the album is to be re-released on April 11 in celebration of Japan tour.

DSP Media shared that it’s been estimated for the album to have sold over 800,000 copies so far. The album sales slowed down towards the end of last year due to problems with the supply however the sales is expected to pick up again as due to the girls Japan tour.

Girls’ Generation is the first Korean singer to become a million seller records with a single album in seven years after BoA. It was through their Japanese debut album ‘Girls’ Generation’ released June of last year selling over a million copies in January of this year.

Still the group has set various records with the album such as being awarded ‘Triple Platinum’ album selling over 750,000 copies that was released last November. The girls became the first Korean artists to earn ‘Triple Platinum’ with one album in Japan.

Recently the girls extended their contract with Universal Music Japan for another year and four months. The girls are one of the most successful Korean girl groups to break into the Japanese market.

Also the group is setting out to kick off their Japan tour ‘KARASIA’ on April 14 in Yokohama, leading to Nagoya, Fukuoka, Osaka, Tokyo and more expecting to meet with 100,000 local fans.
