Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Review, Update: Android 4.4 KitKat Coming To Phablet Late January; French Carrier Reveal Detail Of New OS Release Date

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 review, update: The high-end phablet and the first companion smartphone of the Samsung Galaxy Gear is scheduled to receive the Android 4.4 KitKat later this January.

GSM Arena reports that French carrier SFR has released details on the new OS availability and notes that the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 will both have Android 4.4 late this January.

The mobile industry-focused website says that the South Korean tech giant is mum on the details of the 4.4 KitKat rollout but SFR says it will arrive late in January or early February next year. The global rollout may come in a similar timeframe for the devices.

According to GSM Arena, the Google Play Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4 already have Android 4.2.2 but has fewer modifications, which speeds things along.

Non-GPE devices of the LG G2 are already receiving Android 4.4 KitKat updates. Other electronic manufacturers like Sony have officially confirmed which phones will be receiving KitKat but has still not released a release date.

In other news, it has been reported that the high-end phablet of Samsung maybe getting a new variant dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite. It is rumored to have a 5.68-inch LCD display and that it maybe unveiled at the Mobile World Congress this February in Barcelona, Spain.

In the event the rumors are true, the the price of the Lite 3 is expected to not be far off the current price for an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which is being sold for $724.99 without contract on Amazon.com
