YG Hosts Lecture For MIT Students

YG Entertainment held a lecture on Friday for MIT students about the secret behind K-Pop wave.

YG shared, “There were about 50 foreign students from MIT Sloan School of Management visited YG headquarters and was asked about the secret behind the recent K-Pop wave.” The students were visiting Korea as part of their ‘Korea Japan Study Tour’ program.

YG representative shared, “YG Entertainment’s management philosophy is family-oriented. We try to produce high quality content through the agency’s self-production system through the deep musical bond between the artists and agency.”

“YG was able to become a ‘trend leader’ in Korea’s domestic music market through its bold investments as well as focus on new innovations in music, fashion, music videos and various other fields,” the rep added.

The MIT students explored the recording studio, practice room and other parts of the office were proactively asking questions regarding YG’s production system. Especially the group showed an unusual interest about the future overseas activities of YG artists.

A student that attended the lecture Robby Huang shared, “It’s amazing how the producer at work supervises several albums yet is able to come up with fresh and new music every time. I was able to feel how K-Pop is globally spreading out through this visit.”

YG announced their plans earlier this month of their global expansion into the music markets in Hong Kong and United States. Recently launched Big Bang’s world tour ‘2012 BIGBAND ALIVE TOUR’ in Asia, Europe, as well as North and South America.
