iPhone 6 Release Date Could Fall In May, New iPhone Not Shipping With Curved Display, Report Claims

Since the iPhone 5s and 5c were launched in September, talks about the iPhone 6 release date have already surfaced. Now, a report claims that it will launch sooner than anyone expected -  May 2014.

In a report by DigiTimes, its sources are saying that Apple is looking to launch a bigger iPhone in May next year. According to the report, the Cupertino company is "rumored to be planning a larger size iPhone for May 2014, using a 20nm processor manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company."

While that is all the report says, former rumors claim that Apple might launch a device with a screen within the 5-inch category, which may fall short of the phablet range, but is already in its own right a huge device.

With a screen size of that range, the iPhone 6 may go up against Samsung's Galaxy S lineup than the Note series.

Apple's iPhone 6 release date may be probable at the moment, but it is still possible, considering the number of devices its competitors release every year. However, for iPhone owners who are already on contract, this may come as bad news as they're currently stuck in their contracts.

Meanwhile, another rumor suggests that the iPhone 6 would not have a curved screen. A couple of weeks ago, Apple secured a patent for curved displays in the US. Unfortunately, the supplies for such displays would not be enough to suffice Apple's demand.
