After 12 months of non-stop announcement of new Android phones in 2013, companies are still trying to catch up for the holiday shopping season. Now, Chinese brand Oppo has released another device aimed at the more budget-conscious consumers.

In a report by GSM Arena, the emerging smartphone brand has finally took the wraps off of its R1 midrange Droid. Boasting decent specs plus a huge 5-inch IPS display with 1280 x 720p resolution, the device is certainly a great buy for people who look for both affordability and performance.

The Oppo R1 sports a MediaTek MT6582 chipset with quad-core CPU clocked at 1.3GHz, a GB of RAM and a generous 16GB of internal memory.

Just like previous releases from the Chinese manufacturer, the R1 also boasts a unique design which would certainly cater to most age brackets.

There is also an 8-megapixel camera at the back, and a 5MP snapper in front for better quality selfies. The Oppo R1 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with the company's own skin, Color OS.

The report says the Oppo R1 is already available in China for CNY2,498 or about $410. However, there are still no details regarding an international release.
