Nokia Lumia 2520 Price, Review, Specs: Windows RT 8.1 Tablet With $499.99 Price Tag ‘Is One To Avoid’; Office Apps Lack Many Features, Design Is Boring

Nokia Lumia 2520 price, review, specs: Nokia Lumia 2520 was released earlier this year with fanfare by the Finnish tech giant (which is now a Microsoft-owned company) and serves as the second Windows RT-powered tablet in the market.

Troy Wolverton of the San Jose Mercury News is not impressed with the device and he shares his sentiment in an article titled “Nokia’s new 2520 tablet is one to avoid.” He cites amongst a number of issues - the lackluster design of the unit and the Office app lacking many features because it’s powered runs on Windows RT.

Specs: The Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet comes preloaded with Windows RT 8.1 and Microsoft Office and Outlook. It has LTE connectivity and a has a thin and light polycarbonate body. The tablet runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and has 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. The tablet also has a 6.7MP camera and Full HD display.

Wolverton points out that Windows RT, the operating system powering both Microsoft’s Surface tablet and Nokia Lumia 2520, is “not really windows at all.” He notes that it doesn’t run any Windows application that were written for Windows 7 or older versions of the operating system.

The Office apps running on the Windows RT Nokia 2520 lack many more of the advanced features on the Windows 8. He also says that you have to run them using Windows RT’s hidden desktop interface, which is not designed with touch screens in mind.

Speaking of the physical aesthetics, he shares that the design of the 2520 is boring.

“It’s just flat, rectangular slab. And it’s both thicker and heavier than Apple’s iPad Air,” Wolverton writes. The tablet’s design, he shares, discourages you from holding it vertically because it feels awkward and limits what you can see on the screen.

In what seems like a negative reaction to his review, several commenters slams Wolverton of being an Apple fanboy.

“All you got to say against the device is lower resolution, limited apps, operating system...seriously?? I mean you did nt have to test the device for these details. And apple fanboy written all over the article,” writes user Rahul on the article.
