Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch: Wearable Gadget May Have Terrible Commercial, But It’s Now Available In 58 Countries, Supported By Samsung Galaxy Note 3 And S4

Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch may have a very bad ad, which The Independent says could be the worst commercial of 2013. But though you may not be a fan of Jack sporting the gear to impress a lady, the smartwatch he’s wearing is being pushed in half of the world’s nations.

An earlier report notes that the Samsung Galaxy Gear, the South Korean tech giant’s wearable flagship is now available in more regions worldwide, including the United States, and currently comes with support from Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy S4.

The smartwatch has a built-in camera, 1.63-inch AMOLED touchscreen and a total 70 apps is now available in 58 countries as the South Korean tech giant looks to make in roads in other markets.

According to the Guardian, Samsung bested Apple, Microsoft and Google in becoming the first to launch a smartwatch, which will create a new market that is predicted to rapidly grow in the coming years.

“Smartwatches will be the most important new product category in consumer electronics since the iPad defined the market for tablets,” Chris Jones, vice president of technology analyst firm Canalys told the Guardian.

“Software platforms tied to smartwatches will also be a tremendous opportunity for developers to write apps in categories such as health and wellness or sports and fitness.”

This is key reason why the Samsung Galaxy S4 is now supporting the Galaxy Gear. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 will also be supporting the Samsung Galaxy Gear by end of this month, reports GSM Arena.

In a quick search, the Samsung Galaxy Gear in Jet Black variant is available for $299.99 at T-Mobile.
