Final Fantasy 15 Release Date In 2015? Square Enix President Talks FFXV, Dragon Quest, Tomb Raider, And Kingdom Hearts 3

Although fans are hoping Square Enix will announce a release date for Final Fantasy 15 in 2014, some speculators are less optimistic.

Recently, new Square Enix president and chief executive officer Yosuke Matsuda took the time to talk about some upcoming Square Enix titles, including Final Fantasy 15.

"I think Square Enix is known for releasing 'memorable games.' We established our style in RPGs with Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy," said Matsuda according to Examiner. "The Taito group has developed the original arcade game Space Invaders. Our Eidos group, that is also behind the original Tomb Raider action adventure, has been a pioneer in a new style combining RPG and FPS with Deus Ex: Human Revolution."

"I think in this way the Square Enix group has built, regardless of platform, a style of game for each era. Since the appearance of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy many RPGs have been released. I want to create many more games like that."

Currently, Final Fantasy 15 is not expected to have a release date earlier than March 2014, with titles like Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Dragon Quest X, Drag-on Dragoon 2, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Dragon Quest Monsters 2, and Thief expected to release before it.

“Domestic development will not be completely devoted to just smartphone devices. For high-end devices such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, we will continue focusing on them with our ‘flagship’ titles," continued Matsuda according to GamingBolt.

"We’ve already announced Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3, which our domestic studios are working on, and our foreign studios are working on a sequel for Tomb Raider.”

However, while are still optimistic that Final Fantasy 15 will have a release date in the second half of 2014, places like GamingBolt are speculating that 2015 may be a more realistic release date time frame, given the number of upcoming titles planned by Square Enix.
