Upcoming Samsung Phones 2014: Korean Manufacturer Plans To Work On Smartphone-Tablet Hybrid, Shows Patent Application

There have been lots of news regarding upcoming Samsung phones in 2014, two of which include the Galaxy S5 flagship, and the Galaxy Note 3 Lite midranger. However, another juicy rumor has surfaced from Android Authority, claiming that the Korean manufacturer is interested in working on a padfone-like gadget which is similar to Asus' device.

Dubbed as the Galaxy Hit, the rumored device came into light when a leaked trademark document from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office showed up.

According to the filing, the device which unsurprisingly bears the Galaxy branding is classified in multiple categories - smartphone, digital camera, and tablet.

In the report, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office also brought some good news for Samsung on Christmas Day, which allows the Korean manufacturer to publish the said device starting January 14th next year.

While this does not automatically mean Samsung would indeed develop such a device next year, a patent is already an initial step towards that goal.

Asus' PadFone is a decent device, but it is not short of flaws as well. Let's wait until Samsung develops its own version of the smartphone-tablet hybrid.
