‘Good Morning America’ Anchor Robin Roberts Admits She’s Lesbian; Broadcaster Thanks Fans And Long-Time Girlfriend For Support

In her latest Facebook post, 'Good Morning America' anchor Robin Roberts came out of her closet and admitted one thing which her colleagues have long known about: she's lesbian.

While the 53-year-old media personality previously shared about her health and wellness battles, she opted not to talk about her sexuality.

"I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together," wrote Roberts.

The news anchor is pertaining to licensed massage therapist Amber Laign whom Roberts met 10 years ago.

Roberts underwent several challenges with regards to her health. In 2008, she fought with breast cancer and just last year, Roberts needed a bone marrow transplant in order to treat her Myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood disorder formerly known as "preleukemia".

Just in time for her recovery after the transplant, Roberts wrote the Facebook post not just to acknowledge her girlfriend for the first time but also to express her gratitude to her fans.

"At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude. I am grateful to God, my doctors and nurses for my restored good health. I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life. I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together. I am grateful for the many prayers and well wishes for my recovery. I return every one of them to you 100 fold. On this last Sunday of 2013 I encourage you to reflect on what you are grateful for too," wrote the 53-year-old broadcaster.
