'Supernatural' Season 9 Spoilers Roundup: What To Expect For Sam, Dean, Castiel When Series Returns In 2014

"Supernatural" season 9 returns to the CW in less than two weeks! Find out the latest "Supernatural" season 9 spoilers here, and know what to expect for Sam, Dean, and Castiel when "Supernatural" returns in 2014.

Before the winter hiatus, we found out that Ezekiel was the angel Gadreel. After making a deal with Metatron and taking over Sam's body, Ezekiel/Gadreel killed Kevin Tran in a shocking twist in "Supernatural" season 9.

Now, spoilers reveal that Kevin Tran's death will be "a crushing blow to Dean," who makes it his mission to "do whatever it takes to track down Gadreel and eject him from Sam," executive producer Jeremy Carver said in a juicy spoiler talk, TVLine reports.

Dean's quest will lead him to make "less savory alliances," in order to save Sam.

Meanwhile, Gadreel discovers that "getting Metatron's ultimate approach is probably going to be a harder journey than even what we've seen so far," Carver added.

And Castiel will find "himself in the angelic fray more than ever and at a point of decision he never considered a few short months ago... It's going to be a little of a be-careful-what-you-wish-for [situation]," Carver teased, TVLine reports.

As we previously reported, "a good handful" of "beloved" characters will return to "Supernatural" season 9, "for all different reasons," Carver said.

"We're going to be going even deeper into that and introducing new characters and taking a deeper look at some men of letters characters we've even met before. That's a storyline that continues to pay off for us in a fun and exciting new way," Carver told Entertainment Weekly

"Then I can tell you we're going to see some people we absolutely did not expect to see. And it's all a result of the events that have happened here in the last season and a half. I can't go much more into detail than that."

"Supernatural" season 9 returns to the CW Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 9/8c.
