Digitally Remastered Pokemon Movie To Air On Cartoon Network As X And Y Film Continues Production

As Pokemon fans welcome 2014, the New Year is starting off in a big way with a digitally remastered version of "Pokemon: The First Movie."

"Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket, had ambitious plans to take over the world, involving his latest experiment, a powerful clone of Mew—Mewtwo. Mewtwo is very powerful, and also very smart—smart enough to not want to be controlled by Giovanni," says the movie description.

"It escaped from the lab, and now Mewtwo begins to concoct its own scheme, clandestinely inviting a number of Pokémon Trainers to the ultimate test. Of course, if it’s an event for talented Trainers, Ash Ketchum will be right in the front row!"

According to Pokejungle, "Pokemon: The First Movie" will air in North America on Cartoon Network on January 4, and should be a nostalgic throwback for the fans who remember the 1998 classic.

Since "Pokemon: The First Movie," 15 movies have been released within the Pokemon franchise, and the first film based off of Pokemon X and Y has been announced!

As previously reported, the Pokemon X and Y movie will be called "Pokemon the Movie: Cocoon of Destruction." It will be released July 19, 2014.

In addition to confirming the title, the title of the attached Pokemon short film has also been confirmed.

"Pikachu, What Kind of Key is This?" will be a short film involving the Pokemon X and Y Pokedex addition, Klefki.

Judging by the movie poster, it appears that Mega Evolution will play a big role in the Pokemon X and Y movie.
