NBA Trade Rumors - Luol Deng Will Be Traded; Boozer Will Be Amnestied; Chicago Bulls In Full Rebuild Mode; What Would Derrick Rose Say?

The Chicago Bulls have given up the season, and the core of their line-up. It was a great run for these players, but injuries have cut them short on what was supposed to be the perfect opportunity. It's time to rebuild, but some important people won't be too pleased.

Coach Tom Thibodeau has been very vocal about not giving up despite Derrick Rose's second consecutive season-ending injury. He's not giving up on Rose's recovery, not giving up on his other players, not giving up on the season or perhaps even every single game. You would want that in a coach, but this season has always been judged by very different standards.

The NY Daily News reported that the Bulls, after being on the fence since Rose got injured again, have already decided on a course of action:

"The Bulls' game-plan for the immediate future is coming into focus. League sources with knowledge of Chicago's plans say that they'll definitely be looking to deal Luol Deng before the Feb. 20 trading deadline. Deng is a free agent this summer and the Bulls don't want to pay him anything close to top dollar. The second part of their house-cleaning: They intend on using their amnesty move this coming summer to part ways with Carlos Boozer. Boozer is scheduled to make $16.8 million next season. As we reported earlier, Derrick Rose has caught wind of the plans and is none too thrilled about being part of a rebuilding project. Tom Thibodeau won't be very happy with it, either ..."

Derrick Rose is not so happy about losing their two Blue Devil starters. However, it is his injury that placed the Bulls in this dilemma. No one wants to be injured, but that is a fact. And most observers have placed the Bulls as title favorites not just because of their talent but also their hunger. They knew Deng's contract was up, the amnesty cloud has hovered over Boozer since it was implemented.

The main argument that is that if it ain't broke, don't fix it applied to the Bulls for the past 3-4 seasons. Rose's knees are broke, and so is the team. They have a lot of assets with two possible first round picks in the lottery and they can finally execute the Nikola Mirotic buyout. It's time for the Bulls to make a move.
