The return of "The Mentalist" Season 6 after its mid-season break did not fail its viewers as the series promises an even more exciting show for Episode 12 entitled "The Golden Hammer," where Patrick Jane does a spy ring investigation ala "James Bond."

After an aborted date with a beautiful femme fatale in Episode 11, FBI investigator Jane finds himself neck deep into another mystery when a high-tech cartographer is killed. The death goes much deeper than initially thought, like "James Bond" level deeper.

The cartographer, according to the official synopsis of "The Mentalist" Season 6 Episode 12, might have uncovered a spy ring before he was killed. For this episode, former CBI investigators Wayne Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) and Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) will be back to aid in the investigation.

The last time viewers saw the couple was on "My Blue Heaven" before the "Red John" story arc ended. They already formed their own security company and are starting a family together with one baby.

Navid Negahban of "Homeland" will play Hassan Zarif, who could hold the key to the case.

Episode 12 of "The Mentalist" Season 6 will air on Sunday, January 12 on CBS.

Just last Sunday, we saw Jane in Episode 11 entitled "White Lines."

It's now two years after the serial killer, Red John, was killed. Now we find Jane going on a date with Krystal Markham, played by Brianna Brown of "True Blood," who is a subject of an investigation.

Jane's trusted partner Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) and even helped him pick up a shirt that he would be wearing for the date. Apparently, the date with the gorgeous woman was in line with a case where a number of DEA agents were murdered. The FBI then handles the case, thus sending Jane.

Of course, nothing is ever simple with our observant investigator. It turned out that Brown was actually Mr. X who was directly involved in the death of the drug agents.
