‘The Hobbit: There And Back Again’ Continues As Attorney Says Lawsuit Won’t Scrap Film; Fans Eagerly Await Answers to ‘Desolation of Smaug’ Cliffhanger!

While the release of the "The Hobbit: There And Back Again," was pushed back from June to December 17, 2014, eager fans need not worry about the film being scrapped due to the Miramax lawsuit. Thus, aficionados of the Peter Jackson trilogy will have their answers to the cliffhanger left by "Desolation of Smaug."

Bilbo Baggins supporters can now be at ease that the lawsuit filed by the Weinstein brothers and Miramax against Warner Brothers and New Line won't have any bearing to the release date of 'The Hobbit: There and Back Again", at least according to Tolkien scholar, Atty. Douglas C. Kane.

The lawyer wrote on Theonering.com that the report of the film being cancelled altogether was a result of a roughshod reporting, first by Radar Online which was then picked up by several news blog sites.

He said that speculation was made by the author of the article entitled "Could The Final 'Hobbit' Film Be Scrapped? Inside The Secret Legal Battle Over The Movie's Release."

The lawyer said the complaint filed by the Weinstein brothers and Miramax over The Hobbit was very clear since it demanded only two things: to give them compensation for the second and third instalment in the trilogy; and damages amount to at least $75 million.

"Fans of Peter Jackson's Middle-earth films (or even those who revel in criticizing them) have nothing to worry about," Kane said. Come December 17, 2014, Bilbo Baggins will go There and Back Again," he said.

"Or if he doesn't, it will have nothing to do with this lawsuit," the lawyer added.

The Hobbit: There And Back Again continues the journey of Bilbo Baggins who already joined Gandalf and the 13 dwarves, being led by Thorin Oakenshield, to get back the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

Fans can hardly wait how director Peter Jackson will address the cliffhanger on "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," particularly when they have to wait for one year to get answers.

Spoiler alert: The second installment ended with the dragon Smaug escaping the Lonely Mountain and heading toward Laketown to raze the area. Bilbo wonders how they got caught in the situation before the camera cuts to black.
