PlayStation Plus Free Games: PS4 Title ‘Don’t Starve’ Available Starting Today, January 7, Alongside ‘DmC: Devil May Cry; PS Plus Subscription Gets 90% Increase

PlayStation Plus free games for January are available starting today.

According to Joystiq, two PlayStation Plus free games can be downloaded this week. Particularly, gamers will be able to grab "Don't Starve" and "DmC: Devil May Cry" as these PlayStation Plus free games enter the Instant Game Collection. The announcement about the PlayStation Plus free games came from Kristine Steimer, the senior community specialist, via the official PlayStation Blog.

Don't Starve and DmC were both released earlier this year, according to IGN. Furthermore,

As described on Joystiq, the indie PlayStation 4 game, Don't Starve, created by Klei Entertainment, "is an open-world survival game where players must scrounge up supplies in order to survive as long as possible."

Meanwhile, the other one of the PlayStation Plus free games coming this week, DmC: Devil May Cry is a reboot of Capcom's hack-n-slash action series. The game was developed by Ninja Theory. Describing the gameplay, the post on the PlayStation Blog site reads:

DmC Devil May Cry refreshes the story of Dante and gives him a bit of a makeover, but the combat is still as action-packed as you'd expect from a DMC title. Dante still packs his pistols Ebony & Ivory as well as his blade Rebellion, and you'll have to switch back and forth from Angel and Demon mode in order to rack up your massive combos.

Aside from the news about the PlayStation Plus free games, Sony has also recently announced via a press release that the PS Plus subscription are up by 90 percent since the launch of the PS4. The PlayStation 4 was released in the market on November.

As posted on Gamezone, "Much of the increase is likely to do with the fact that Sony now requires a PS Plus membership in order to play PS4 games online, but anyone who paid for the service on PS3 will likely admit it's worth the money."

Aside from the online gameplay, PS Plus members with PS4 also have access to Instant Game Collection which offers full versions of games for free. Thus, PS4 gamers subscribed to PS Plus were also able to get PlayStation Plus free games such as Contrast and Resogun last month. And as aforementioned, this January 2014, PS4 gamer can get "Don't Starve" with no additional cost.
