‘X Men Apocalypse’ Plot Spoilers - The Origin Of Mutants To Be Revealed; Bryan Singer Still In Talks To Direct The Sequel

"X-Men Apocalypse" will explore the origin of the mutants. It is a logical move with the oldest known mutant in the spotlight. Bryan Singer is serving as the producer and part of the writing team, but he is still not a lock as its director.

"X-Men Days of Future Past" director Bryan Singer was recently interviewed by Entertainment Weekly:

On whether he will direct the movie: "I'm co-writing the story and I'm producing it. I'm negotiating to direct. We're in the process. We're trying to figure it out, schedules. My desire would be to direct it."

Will DOFP connect with "Apocalypse?": "Something that happens in this movie causes what's going to happen in that movie."

What other main features will "Apocalypse" have?: "It will also address historical mutant-cy, meaning the deep past, mutant origins and things like that. It's something that's always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers."

The emergence of Apocalypse in the X-Men Universe gives hints on how DOFP will end. From What Culture, analysis of some elements present in Age of Apocalypse provides unintentional plot spoilers. Of course, it must be emphasized that Singer and Simon Kinberg have already made a lot of deviations from the comic book plotline.

With that in mind, these are some possible plot twists according to What Culture:

"Logic would suggest that Wolverine succeeds, not only because he's Wolverine, but also because the emergence of Apocalypse requires a complete change in ideology from Magneto that sees the opportunity for Apocalypse to appear and make a play for the Earth, in order to wipe out humanity."

This could be in line with what Singer mentioned-an event in DOFP that will cause the events in Apocalypse. When Apocalypse found out that when the humans win, they will wipe out the mutant race with the Sentinels, the first-known mutant (as we might find out that he is actually NOT the first later on) takes the opportunity of the revised past and take 'revenge' for something that has not happened yet. He will try to destroy the human race and have mutants conquering the world.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" will be shown on May 23, 2014 while "X-Men Apocalypse" will be released two years later on May 27, 2016.
