Modular Phone Concept Eco-Mobius Worked On By ZTE, Features Replaceable Display, Core, Battery And Camera, Showcased In CES 2014

The modular phone concept is indeed a promising endeavor that could change the smartphone industry forever.  Last year, Motorola introduced the Ara modular concept where certain parts of the device can be replaced. In past reports, the Google-owned company has reportedly been in talks with certain manufacturers which would develop the parts for the concept phone.

Now, another handset manufacturer, ZTE has joined the modular phone concept bandwagon, and it even showcased the idea at the CES event in Las Vegas.

According to the report by Android Authority, the phone is divided into four parts, which can all be replacce if one of them is damaged. The parts include the display, the core where the RAM, processor and memory are located, the battery, and the camera.

However, unlike Motorola that plans on bringing in more manufacturers to work with several parts, ZTE plans to develop the different parts on its own.

This may become a problem in case modular phones become mainstream due to incompatibility problems, though we can worry about that later.

For now, let us all hope that Motorola, ZTE and other manufacturers would be able to make this seemingly distant dream come true.
