‘X Men Days Of Future Past Cast Rumors - Toad Returns To The Big Screen; Director Bryan Singer Wants To Keep Original X-Men Cast

"X-Men: Days Of Future Past" Cast rumors was the last thing one would expect, but it's here. Toad, a character last seen all the way back to the first X-Men movie in 2000, makes his comeback.

Of course, DOFP is practically a prequel, so the character will have an 'origin' feature. MTV has the story on the new Toad, Evan Jonigkeit:

"It's a really incredible thing to be a part of. ['Days of Future Past'] is huge and really exciting. I was so stoked to be working with all of these people. It was a really crazy experience."

"I read a lot of the comic books. I found out the storyline of my character, who is Toad, X-Men fans will know that Ray Park played him in the first movie, so it's a generation story of how he came to be. It's really cool."

"The aesthetics of the character are much different, and I'm not really allowed to say a whole lot more than that. It's darker. I would say it's a darker tone."

There seems to be a conscious effort to bring back the characters from the original X-Men movie. This was the one that Singer directed. However, the natural course of the characters from First Class would eventually reach the timeline of the original X-Men.

Reactions to the casting were mixed, as the sequel gives the impression of having too many characters and apparently, the running time was too long. From Screenrant, they observe that the introduction of the time travel concept was a : way to 'fix' the damage left by a wayward "X-Men: The Last Stand:"

"With X-Men: Days of Future Past introducing the concept of time travel into the long-running franchise, there's no reason the studio and its creatives cannot bring back familiar faces and that's exactly what they're planning to do. The core group of younger X-Men: First Class characters returns for the majority of the Days of Future Past story while its future-set plot involves most of the returning characters from the original X-Men trilogy (now, minus Anna Paquin's Rogue)."
