Zoe Saldana to Star in NBC's Satanic Miniseries 'Rosemary's Baby' Remake; Sports The Devil's Baby Bump

Zoe Saldana will play Rosemary, the distressed and bedeviled wife and soon to be mother, on NBC four-hour miniseries reimaging of "Rosemary's Baby." Zoe Saldana isn't just any mother. Rosemary's Baby will be the son of the devil.

NBC's remake is based on Ira Levin's 1967 horror novel "Rosemary's Baby." Zoe Saldana, who played a young Uhura in the latest "Star Trek" reboot takes the lead in Mephistophelian miniseries that was originally adapted for the big screen by Roman Polanski in his classic horror take.

Zoe Saldana, who also played in the movie "Avatar," plays Rosemary, she's a young wife in a new city. The apartment she lives in has a dark history. She gets pregnant and things start to get even darker. It appears that her husband and her neighbors in her apartment building are in league on devilish doing and have sinister plans for her unborn child.

Rosemary's Baby is being written by Scott Abbott and James Wong. It will be directed by Agnieszka Holland will direct. Agnieszka Holland was nominated for an Academy Award for the film "Europa, Europa" and an Emmy award for the HBO series "Treme." Production is set to start at the end of the month. It will be shot in Paris.

Zoe Saldana will take the part made famous by Mia Farrow in Roman Polanski's 1968 classic thriller.

Quinn Taylor, executive vp movies, miniseries and international co-productions at NBC Entertainment, said "Zoe has proven that she is one of our most gifted actresses and we think she has the perfect combination of spirit and gravitas to take on the title role from Ira Levin's infamous novel. With Zoe leading the cast under the direction of Agnieszka Holland, this reimagined event miniseries is off to a great start."

Besides Avatar and Star Trek, Saldana won an ALMA Award for her role in the film "Colombiana." She nabbed BET and Image Award nominations for "The Losers" and Jim Cameron's "Avatar." Saldana recently appeared in Out of the Furnace and will next be seen in "Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy," "Blood Ties" and the animated movie "The Book of Life." Saldana's been on TV before in "Law & Order: SVU" in 2004 and starred in "Six Degrees" on ABC in 2006.
