Ian Somerhalder And Nina Dobrev Receive People's Choice Award For 'Best Onscreen Chemistry'; 'It's A Good Thing It's Not Awkward,' Jokes TVD Actress

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev temporarily left their serious moods in 'The Vampire Diaries' as they received the People's Choice Awards 2014 for 'Best Onscreen Chemistry' last Wednesday.  While reports claim that the two are uncomfortable with each other, their cheery chemistry on stage proves why they deserve the recognition.

When Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev went on stage for their acceptance speech, the 35-year-old actor said how Elena and Damon, their 'Vampire Diaries' characters, originally hated each other but later became an item. He also added that he and Dobrev were dating off-screen. Upon saying the last line, the 24-year-old actress interrupted him with a joke: "And then we broke up in real life." The 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' actress also quips, "It's a good thing it's not awkward!"

The former 'Lost' actor then kissed his ex-girlfriend on the cheek which made the audience ecstatic. Somerhalder and Dobrev dated for nearly three years before parting ways in May 2013 reportedly because of their different priorities.

The two defeated the following onscreen duos:

1.       Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) from 'Glee'

2.       Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) from 'Castle'

3.       Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) from 'Grey's Anatomy'

4.       Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Hook (Colin O'Donghue) from 'Once Upon a Time'

Somerhalder and Dobrev will continue to make viewers wanting for more as they resume their love team on 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 4.

Do you think their chemistry is indeed worthy to nab the award?
