The brunette beauty quickly re-tweeted the special birthday post which made their fans happy. A few days prior to Nina Dobrev's birthday, the former couple nabbed the 'Best Onscreen Chemistry' recognition at the 40^th People's Choice Awards for their characters Elena and Damon. They defeated equally famous television couples such as Emma and Hook from 'Once Upon a Time' as well as Kurt and Blaine from 'Glee'.

Dobrev and Somerhalder's acceptance speech during the awards night is another proof that the two has no ill feelings for each other. "It's a good thing it's not awkward," jokes the 25-year-old actress on stage.

After receiving the award, the 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' star had an early-morning celebration with 'Vampire Diaries' creators Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec as well Somerhalder himself.
