As the New Year begins, Cartoon Network is getting ready to launch the US iteration of the Pokemon X and Y anime, starting with the special preview called "Mewtwo: Prologue to Awakening."

Many Pokemon fans may know that "Mewtwo: Prologue to Awakening" is a special anime episode that serves as the prologue to the movie "Genesect and the Legend Awakened."

In Japan, the special episode aired on July 11, 2013, and now American fans are finally getting to see it on Cartoon Network tomorrow, January 11, 2014!

Although this is not the English dubbed version, you can check out the original Japanese launch of "Mewtwo: Prologue to Awakening" below:

The premiere of this prologue is Cartoon Network's initiation into the broadcast premiere of the Pokemon X and Y anime series, which is set to debut January 18.

You can check out the first two episodes of the Pokemon X and Y anime with English dubbing on YouTube already, but starting on January 18, the episodes will air weekly on Cartoon Network.

On January 4, a digitally remastered version of "Pokemon: The First Movie" premiered on Cartoon Network as the channel prepares to launch the new Pokemon generation.

"It's a month of firsts this January on Cartoon Network as the first Pokémon generation meets the latest, and a brand-new animation season kicks off the New Year!" said the official press release.
