"The Mentalist" Season 6 Spoilers: ‘Game of Thrones’ Actor To Play Special Agent Marcus Pike as Lisbon’s Love Interest?

"The Mentalist" season 6 fanatics waiting for spoilers have their appetites whetted when CBS announced a new addition to the cast: meet FBI Special Agent Marcus Pike who will reportedly be Agent Teresa Lisbon's love interest.

The FBI agent will be played Pedro Pascal, who was also announced to be included in HBO's very popular "Game of Thrones" series as Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne or Red Viper.

According to executive producer Bruno Heller per Entertainment Weekly, it's crucial for Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) to step away from partner Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and "see herself for herself" and that's why the agent has to have a love interest in the person of Agent Marcus Pike.

"In order for her to fulfill herself -- even if she eventually fulfills herself with Jane, which she may or may not do -- she has to find other relationships, other perspectives, other people who love her, just to feel fully who she is," he said.

CBS has yet to announce the return date for the 13th episode of "The Mentalist" season 6. But the episode has the intriguing title "Black Helicopters."

However, IMDB.com earlier surmised that it could be on March 9 in time for the return date of "The Good Wife," the show that usually follows The Mentalist in the network's lineup.

"They usually have those two shows' schedules stay in tandem," the website added.

While CBS is mum on the reason for the long break, the Examiner offered an explanation for the long hiatus, pointing to the telecasts of the Super Bowl and the Olympics this season.

Before the love story blossoms between Teresa Lisbon and Agent Marcus Pike, however, fans are eager to know what happens to former CBI investigator Wayne Rigsby (Owain Yeoman), who in episode 12 was stuck in a grimy and dark room with a killer.
