Upcoming Windows Phones 2014 Will Get Voice Assistant 'Cortana' Developed By Foursquare, Provides Entertainment, Dining Tips, And More

Months before its release, we are already hearing so much about Windows Phone's latest update - 8.1 and the potential improvements it could bring to upcoming Windows phones in 2014.

A new report now claims that Microsoft plans to use the newly acquired app Foursquare in its own voice assistant, which has been named Cortana based on the popular Halo series.

Foursquare is an application that provides a list of entertainment and dining suggestions to users based on their location, and it has been recently bought by Microsoft, allegedly for this purpose as well.

There are already much to expect from Microsoft's mobile platform, including the improved live tiles homescreens, settings which allow quickslots for the user's preferred apps, and the Siri-like voice assistant Cortana.

The update is expected to hit the market any time this year, and would most likely roll out to previous versions of Windows Phone.
