Paul Wesley will direct "Vampire Diaries" season 5, episode 18! Will Stefan appear in the episode, despite Paul Wesley spending a lot of time behind the camera while he makes his directorial debut with "Vampire Diaries" season 5, episode 18?

According to Buzzfeed, Paul Wesley will be the first of his "Vampire Diaries" co-stars to direct an episode of the hit CW series. We're sure you're worrying that this means Paul will be spending most of his time behind the camera, instead of in front of it as Stefan Salvatore. But Paul made sure to assure fans that Stefan will definitely be present in season 5, episode 18.

"It's not Stefan-light, but it's also not Stefan-heavy," Paul said. "I'd say it is somewhere in the middle. A good friend of mine recently directed a film he also starred in, and I was on the set the whole time, so I got to see firsthand what that experience looked like."

"Vampire Diaries" season 5 only has 22 episodes, which means that Paul's episode will be gearing up towards the suspense of the finale! Paul describes the episode as "both nostalgic and suspenseful."

"It feels like our world, but something is a bit askew. It feels uneasy. And I respond to that," he added.

"It's an honor and the cast couldn't be any more supportive, which I feel truly grateful for," Paul also told Buzzfeed.

So how did Wesley land the gig?

"I spent a year shadowing directors, attending meetings, prepping, sitting in the editing room, etc. Even though I have been working in TV for years, it ended up being such a blessing because I learned invaluable information," Paul dished. "They finally granted me an episode, which was met with a great deal of excitement and nervousness on my part."
