Upcoming Android Tablets 2014: 8" Nexus Slate Could Launch In April, More Nexus Devices Expected This Year

If you have been looking for upcoming Android tablets in 2014 which have a pure and unskinned platform, you be expecting the Nexus 7 (2014). Well, sorry to burst your bubble but Google may be planning to move on.

Instead, the search giant and developer of the largest mobile platform may be preparing to launch an 8-inch Nexus device, as early as April this year.

According to a report by BGR, Google has been disappointed with the current Nexus 7, which reportedly only sold three million units worldwide since its launch in mid-2013.

One problem for the poor performance could be the tight competition between 7-inch tablets in the industry. Aiming at the 8-inch zone makes the upcoming Nexus tablet a unique option, as there are very few alternatives out there. Reports last year claim that LG may be assigned for this project due to the huge success of its G Pad 8.3 which was launched last year.

In addition to the upcoming Nexus 8 this April, the report also mentions a number of other Nexus devices which may also be released later this year. Google has reportedly tapped a number of manufacturers including Samsung, Lenovo and HTC to work on tablets with varying specs.
