Destiny PS4 Release Date Set For September 9; Beta Version Of Activision’s ‘Biggest New IP Launch In Video Game History’ Arriving This Summer 2014

Destiny PS4 release date is set for September 2014.

Destiny was originally planned to be available during the early spring season of this year. However, last December, as posted on International Business Times, it was confirmed that the Destiny release date for PS4 and other consoles will be set for September 9, 2014. Aside from the PS4 version of Destiny, the game will also be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on September 9.

Moreover, game publisher Activision has recently announced the launch schedule for the beta version of Destiny. Eric Hirshberg, Activision Publishing president and CEO, revealed that Bungie will begin the Destiny beta this summer. The announcement about the Destiny beta release was made during Activision Blizzard's earnings call last Thursday, February 6.

He told, "We believe Destiny could be Activision Publishing's third billion-dollar franchise, and we're working hard to make it the biggest new IP launch in video game history."

Hirshberg further added, ""Together, we are bringing gamers an ambitious and innovative game which combines the intensity of great first-person action, with the character investment and social connections of an RPG in an immense connected universe. We believe the game is on track to deliver record pre-orders for a new franchise, a public beta is planned for summer and we expect to launch the game on September 9."

Activision previously stated that Destiny beta will first arrive on the PlayStation consoles. Afterwards, Destiny beta for Xbox One and Xbox 360 will begin.

To have access to Destiny beta, players need to pre-order the game to be able to access the beta version for Destiny. According to Computer And Video Games, access codes for Destiny beta are sent to customers who pre-ordered the game from participating retailers around the world. Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy and Walmart are the participating retailers in the US. Meanwhile, customers in the UK can have access to Destiny beta by pre-ordering the game from Amazon, Tesco, Blockbuster and Smyths.
