Salma Hayek Will Star in New Action Thriller 'Everly' and With John Travolta in `A Three Dog Life’

Salma Hayek is returning to her action movie roots in the upcoming film "Everly."

The new Salma Hayek movie will be an intense action thriller about a down-on-her-luck woman who has to fight off waves of assassins. The hitmen were sent by her mob boss ex-husband. Salma also has to save her estranged mother and daughter.

Salma Hayek is also set to star alongside John Travolta in "A Three Dog Life," based on the best-selling memoir by Abigail Thomas. Salma Hayek will play Abigail Thomas. John Travolta will play her husband, who loses his memory in a car accident. Hayek will be seen next in "Muppets Most Wanted."

In "Everly," Salma Hayek will star with Togo Igawa, who played in "Last Samurai", and Masashi Fujimoto who played in "Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance" and veteran actor Hiroyuki Watanabe. "Everly" will be directed by Joe Lynch.

In a statement, Radius co-presidents Tom Quinn and Jason Janego said "We've been on the hunt for a female driven action franchise and we've finally found it in Everly. Salma is utterly transcendent. We're thrilled to be in business with Dimension and Radius. Bob, Tom and Jason have been passionately tracking the project for some time so we couldn't be happier to have them as partners."

Dimension and Radius-TWC bought the U.S. rights to the new Salma Hayek action-thriller. The acquisition comes only hours after The Weinstein Co., which is the parent company of Dimension and Radius, paid $7 million in Berlin for U.S. rights to the new Benedict Cumberbatch historical drama, "The Imitation Game."

"Everly" was produced and financed by recently launched Singapore venture Vega, Baby!. It will be produced through Adam Ripp and Rob Paris' Crime Scene Pictures. "Everly" should hit the screens in the fourth quarter of 2014.

Radius recently released the Oscar nominee "20 Feet from Stardom," Sundance hit "Concussion," and Jonathon Levine's "All the Boys Love Many Lane." It is set to release "The Immigrant" with Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Renner and Joaquin Phoenix, and "Horns" with Daniel Radcliffe.
