Ed Skrein had a memorable appearance in HBO's hit series Game of Thrones. He played the role of Daario Naharis, a recurring character in the third season. Naharis first appeared as a lieutenant in the Second Sons mercenary company and then took over after killing his superiors Mero and Prendahl na Ghezn. He aligned with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) whom his character fell in love with. However, he didn't stay that long in the epic drama as he was later on replaced by Michiel Huisman.

For those who are wondering what's the reason behind the recasting, this might be the answer. The Variety reported that Skrein will be appearing in massive movie by next year. He will replace Jason Statham in the reboot of the successful action film franchise The Transporter.

"We searched everywhere to find a fresh face who had the potential to become an action movie star and we've found the right match with Ed Skrein, who's not only a great actor but also has enough charisma and physical stamina to play Frank Martin (the 'Transporter's' leading role) with brio," EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert told Variety.

Variety also wrote that "although plot details are still kept under wraps, Lambert said the first installment of "Transporter" reboot will return to the French Riviera, site of the first pic. He said the writers have given more depth to the character of Frank Martin, whose job is to transport goods and ask no questions. For instance, the movie will explore Martin's relationship with his father."

Reports about the possible The Transporter reboot first surfaced on February 7. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the film will not only feature one film. There is a possibility that viewers will see Transporter 4, Transporter 5, and Transporter 6 if expectations are met.

"If it performs as expected, Transporter 5 and Transporter 6 will be set up as official Chinese co-productions to get easier access to China's booming box office," the THR wrote.

The Transporter's first three films were a huge success with Jason Statham, raking in $250 million worldwide. It was also spun into a TV series starring Chris Vance.
