Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev back together news might excite fans of 'The Vampire Diaries' but in reality, the 25-year-old actress had no plans of reconciling with her former beau.

A recent article from German magazine proves that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev back together rumors are false. The Bulgarian-Canadian actress tells the magazine that she doesn't depend her happiness on a man: "I definitely don't need anyone to make me happy. I can do that all by myself."

Although romantically linked to Zachary Levi, the 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' actress confirmed her dating status to Mario Lopez from Extra TV: "I'm not choosing to do anything. I'm just choosing to exist and see what happens."

When asked about her type of guy, she responded:"Well, that's the whole part of dating. I'm trying to figure it out." It might be the reason why the brunette beauty is trying to spend time with the 'Thor 2: The Dark World' actor.

While Dobrev prefers to remain single this coming Valentine's Day, Somerhalder opts to be attached to his foundation by promoting his newest batch of shirts.

Through his Twitter and Instagram accounts, the 35-year-old asked his fans to support his foundation by ordering the shirts. He even teased that he'd willingly give the shirt that he slept in though it was already covered with cat hair and his dog Nietzche's slobber.

Even if Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev already ended their romance, the two remained close and comfortable with each other.

"If you're with someone for that long, there's obviously the qualities in them that you enjoy and that doesn't change just because you're not together anymore. I have an enormous amount of respect and love for [him] and everyone. That doesn't change, it shouldn't, otherwise why were you with them?" said Dobrev last January.
