The Pelicans (22-28) ended up losing by only 12, but were down by 20-plus for much of the game vs the Nets last night. Now they have a chance to play a division-leading Raptors (26-24) team that has lost two straight. "We just didn't play (well) tonight," all-star Anthony Davis told NBA.com about the Pelicans loss to the Nets Sunday night. "We know it. Coaches know it. Everybody knows it."
Toronto is having trouble in the paint but coach Casey refused to blame fatigue for Toronto's apparent lack of aggressiveness and inability to be physical in the paint, according to NBA.com.
"Everybody is tired right now," Casey said. "Everybody is preparing for the (All-Star) break, but it's not here yet. We have business to take care of. I just told the guys, 'We have to go back and take care of home.'"
The Raptors have won eight of 10 at Air Canada Centre and also will host Atlanta on Wednesday prior to the break as they continue to hold on to the Atlantic Division lead with the Nets on their tail.
"We're a developing young team and we're getting better," Casey said. "We're doing some good things, but some things we've got to learn to do better. We're happy where we are, but we're not satisfied."
The Pelicans will play Monday night and once more on Wednesday at Milwaukee against an NBA worst Bucks team to close it out before the all-star break.
