‘Parks And Recreation’ Season 6 On Hold During Sochi Winter Olympics; Watch NBC Digital Spinoff Featuring Perd Hapley Until It Returns!

"Parks and Recreation" season 6 is being put on hold while NBC airs the Sochi Winter Olympics. To keep "Parks and Recreation" fans occupied meanwhile, NBC is airing a digital spinoff of the series featuring Perd Hapley, played by Jay Jackson!

According to The Wrap, NBC has produced digital spinoffs for "Chicago Fire," "Parks and Recreation," "Grimm" and "Parenthood," in an effort to give fans a connection to the shows they love during NBC's Sochi Winter Olympics coverage.

The series will stream on NBC.com, Hulu, and YouTube between Feb. 6-23.

The digital spinoff for "Parks and Recreation" season 6 will debut Thursday, Feb. 20. The official description reads:

"Parks and Recreation," digital series titled "The Hapley Group" will feature newscaster Perd Hapley (Jay Jackson) and a cast of Pawnee characters in a heated, political round-table discussion of the city's hot topics. Matt Besser ("Crazy Ira"), Nick Kroll ("The Douche"), Mo Collins (Joan Callamezzo) and new cast member Seth Morris ("Mike Patterson") also star. The digital series directed by Morgan Sackett and written by Greg Levine, debuts Thursday, Feb. 20.

Rob Hayes, NBC Entertainment's executive vice president of digital media, released a statement explaining the spinoffs.

"We worked closely with the writers on these series and want to give our audience a chance to stay in touch with their favorite shows," Hayes said. "These digital series provide a great way to give our loyal audience even more original programming."
