NBA Trade Rumors: Victor Oladipo Is The Lone ‘Untouchable!’ Orlando Has A Fire Sale Despite Their Short Win Streak! Who Could They Get?

The Orlando Magic were a team on fire, at least when they beat the top two teams in the league. Now they are having a fire sale after a reality check, and an inventory before the trade deadline.

According to Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports, who ranked the Magic at 29 despite those wins, and they really want to make changes.

"Outside of talented rookie guard Victor Oladipo, sources say the Magic are open to talking trade but have nothing imminent."

The Magic has a lot of assets from the Dwight Howard trade. They also cashed in on the JJ Redick trade. Those assets are Orlando's trade pieces. Tobias Harris was a borderline All-Star and GM Rob Hennigan wants to convert them to form the future of the team. Just like the Phoenix Suns, they want a star and they have the Denver or New York pick as an asset (they could all end up in the lottery, no protections for this pick according to RealGM).

The Magic also has cap space. They will probably not exercise their team option for Jameer Nelson (they have been trying to trade him all season) which could get them added savings.  Clearly, Hennigan wants a fresh start, but which player would want to go to Orlando?

That would still depend on the unit that they can assemble and their place in the draft. If they get a top three draft pick and keep the right players, they can form a team that is one superstar away from being a contender.

Speaking of keeping the right players, USA Today has mentioned that while they are willing to listen to offers, it is NOT a fire sale!  Especially on fringe all-stars like Arron Afflalo:

"Right now, the Magic are inclined to hang on to Afflalo - unless, again, they get a significant talent in return. They don't see the need to deal Afflalo just because he's a young veteran and don't need any more picks. They need to start showing some signs of real improvement next season, and make some kind of playoff push, and trading one's leading scorer tends to impede that kind of progress. Next season will be the third since the Dwight Howard trade; fans are patient, but only to a point."

Hennigan needs to deal from a position of power. With this line-up and a good pick, he can exercise his due prudence. Maybe one of the Miami Big Three would consider moving to their in-state rival?
